Comparison

vivapush as a OneSignal alternative

What vivapush does

  • Push notifications for iPhone and iPad (APNs), Android (FCM) and browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari), from one dashboard.
  • A dashboard in English and Portuguese, in plain language for non-technical teams.
  • Five-step campaigns, segments, test sends and scheduling in each person's time zone.
  • A live monitor, with pause and cancel for what has not gone out yet.
  • Metrics that keep “accepted for delivery” apart from “reached the device”, which only counts when the app confirms it.
  • A public API with one key per app, Idempotency-Key so nothing is sent twice, and signed webhooks.
  • Organizations with several apps, per-person roles and a log of who did each important action.

How vivapush charges

There is no fixed monthly fee and no per-message charge. You pay per monthly active user (MAU), summed across all of the organization's apps. Each range is charged only for the users that fall into it, like a utility bill, and the price per thousand drops as you grow. The first 1,000 active users are free, forever.

  • Every feature in every range, no add-ons.
  • A 14-day trial with no charge.
  • An optional monthly spending limit: when reached, marketing campaigns pause while transactional alerts keep going out. Alerts at 75%, 90% and 100%.
  • A prepaid yearly package with about 15% off. Above 1 million MAU, an Enterprise contract.
  • Prices in US dollars, and in Brazilian reais for Brazil.

When OneSignal may be the better choice

  • You need email, SMS or in-app messages in the same place today. In vivapush those channels are still on the roadmap.
  • You want ready-made official native SDKs. vivapush offers a public API and an integration example for websites; in apps, you integrate by calling the API.
  • You prefer a vendor with many years on the market. vivapush is new.

How to switch

  1. Connect the same Apple (.p8) and Firebase (service account) credentials your app already uses.
  2. If your current provider lets you export device tokens, register each one with POST /api/v1/devices. iOS and Android tokens belong to your app and your project, so they keep working.
  3. Update the app to register new devices with vivapush. Both systems can run side by side during the switch.
  4. On your website, publish the vivapush service worker. Web Push subscriptions are tied to the VAPID key that created them, so visitors need to opt in again.

Frequently asked questions

Does vivapush charge per notification sent?

No. Sending is unlimited; you pay for monthly active users.

Can I switch without losing subscribers?

On iOS and Android, yes, by registering the tokens you already have. On the web, visitors need to opt in again, because each subscription is tied to a VAPID key.

Does vivapush have a free plan?

Yes. Up to 1,000 monthly active users per organization, with every feature and no credit card.
